Shows and Movies

When I say "shows," I mean it the same way that some older people talk about "watching their programs." Meaning, a catch-all for media.

This will be my media critique essay zone, where I will yap about whatever I have been watching lately.

I am a late arriver to anime, apart from whatevver I used to catch on Toonami circa 2005. (Unless you count the 4KidsTV dub of Sonic X? I really don't.) I got into Iyashikei, a calm and chill subgenre of slice-of-life anime around 2020 as an exercise in escapism, and I have progressively gotten more into different varieties of anime this last year or so. One of my long-suffering friends has been caught in more than one unskippable cutscene from me, reflecting on some odd show that I feel is better than the sum of its parts. Anime will probaby represent the majority of

My media habits are a bit wonky. I am that person among my friends who will often say "Oh, this sounds terrible. We should definitely watch it." As such, there's a real chance I will bring up the dumbest nonsense in here.

Ideally, this page will eventually be organized into a grid of show and movie covers. Those will either serve as buttons or have an accoompanying link to a 3 to 5 paragraph essay. Something between a review and first impressions. I will try and keep spoilers to a minumum, keep them near the bottom of the write-up, and give a spoiler warning.

(lol I have a whole Reviews section now so the above is kinda moot. I'll come up with a better schpiel for why this exists some other time.)

K-On!: I'm rewatching K-On! for the first time in a couple years. This was a comfort show for me when life was a little upside-down. And idk, it feels like a good "dog-days of summer, with fall on the horizon" kinda show.
